Asisat Oshoala, a five-time winner of the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award, did not make the shortlist for the 2024 edition, breaking her long streak in the competition. However, Nigerian football remains well-represented, as Super Falcons’ players Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been nominated. Ajibade, who plays for Atlético Madrid, and Nnadozie, the Paris FC goalkeeper, are among the 10 nominees competing for the prestigious title.
The CAF Awards, scheduled for December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco, will recognize exceptional players and coaches in African football. Other notable nominees include Zambia’s Barbara Banda, Morocco’s Sanaa Mssoudy, and South Africa’s Thembi Kgatlana.
