A major power outage in northern Nigeria has been ongoing due to faults in the transmission network. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has identified and begun repairs on critical transmission lines, especially those impacted by vandalism.
Several towers along key lines, such as the Biu-Danbua and Makurdi-Jos lines, were severely damaged or vandalized, with conductors being stolen. TCN has engaged contractors for repairs, but the challenging terrain and security issues are slowing progress.
Additionally, the Shiroro-Mando transmission line was taken offline due to security concerns, further exacerbating the situation. TCN has reassured the public that repairs are ongoing and efforts are being made to restore power supply to the affected regions.
