The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has achieved a comprehensive victory in the Osun State local government elections, securing all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state’s 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs). This outcome was officially announced by Hashim Abioye, Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), during a press conference held on Saturday.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State participated in the electoral process, casting his vote in Ede North LGA. He commended the peaceful nature of the elections, stating, “The local government election in the state has been very peaceful.”
The PDP’s clean sweep in these council polls underscores the party’s dominant position in Osun State’s political landscape. This victory follows the party’s success in the 2022 gubernatorial election, where Senator Ademola Adeleke won 17 out of the 30 LGAs, defeating the incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The successful conduct of the local government elections has been lauded by various stakeholders, highlighting the state’s commitment to democratic processes and grassroots development.
