Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has fired back at José Mourinho amidst ongoing scrutiny surrounding City’s financial conduct. Guardiola implied that Mourinho might be among those who wish to see the reigning Premier League champions demoted but reiterated his club’s stance on innocence until proven guilty.
Addressing the situation, Guardiola said:
“Probably José Mourinho is another on the huge list that wants Man City in League One or Conference.”
Despite the jab, Guardiola emphasized due process, adding:
“But I’d say to Jose; we’re innocent until proven guilty.”
The remarks come as Manchester City faces investigations over alleged breaches of financial regulations. Guardiola has been vocal in defending his club, previously expressing frustration over what he perceives as prejudgment from rivals and critics.
The rivalry between Guardiola and Mourinho, which spans over a decade, continues to generate intrigue, with both managers known for their sharp exchanges. Mourinho has not yet responded to Guardiola’s latest comments.
