Peter Obi has congratulated the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for the progress at the Port Harcourt refinery. The facility, recently rehabilitated as part of its first phase, is now producing at 70% of its installed capacity, with plans to ramp up to 90%. This development aligns with broader efforts to reduce Nigeria’s dependency on imported petroleum products and generate local fuel supplies, including diesel, kerosene, and straight-run petrol. Obi commended the achievement as a significant milestone for the oil sector and for addressing energy challenges in Nigeria.
This milestone also reflects the ongoing commitment to revamp Nigeria’s refining capacity under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, with further plans to rehabilitate other refineries in Warri and Kaduna.
