
Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and presidential aspirant, recently honored the 60th anniversary of St. John of God Secondary School in Awka by addressing students on the value of education and skill acquisition as a foundation for future success. He presented a ₦15 million cheque to the school on behalf of Mrs. Bridget Egodi Egbujiobi (formerly Bridget Egodi Akaigwe, Class of 1979), a proud alumna motivated to give back after recent conversations with Obi in the United States.
During a recent visit to Dr. Leo and Mrs. Bridget Egbujiobi in the United States, Mrs. Egbujiobi shared her enduring pride in her alma mater. When Obi mentioned the upcoming anniversary and the school’s need for support, Mrs. Egbujiobi responded with an enthusiastic commitment to make a meaningful donation. Obi presented the cheque at the celebration as part of her generous contribution to the school’s development.
Following the anniversary event, Obi extended his support to the new Regina Caeli School of Nursing in Awka, contributing an additional ₦10 million to aid its mission in advancing healthcare education.
Obi emphasized his dedication to advancing education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, saying, “My commitment remains steadfast in supporting critical areas of development. Investing in education and healthcare is essential for a thriving future.”
He concluded with his message of hope, stating, “A new Nigeria is POssible.”
