In his ongoing commitment to supporting health and education in Nigeria, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has donated N10 million to Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro, in Abia State.
During his visit, Obi emphasized the vital role institutions like Madonna College play in addressing the country’s healthcare challenges. He noted that Nigeria’s health sector faces a critical shortage of professionals and praised the college for its efforts in training health workers who will significantly contribute to improving the nation’s healthcare system.
“As we continue to face a severe shortage of health professionals, it is imperative to support institutions like Madonna College, which bridge this gap by equipping students with the skills needed to serve our nation effectively,” Obi said.
He also urged the federal government to increase funding for the health and education sectors, stressing the importance of aggressive investments in these areas to secure Nigeria’s future.
Addressing the students, Obi encouraged them to view their education as a stepping stone to becoming agents of change and contributors to national development. He expressed confidence that their efforts would help build a better society and improve humanity.
Obi commended the college’s management and staff for their dedication and pledged to continue supporting institutions that align with his vision of a more prosperous and equitable Nigeria.
“This is part of my vision for the New Nigeria we all deserve. Together, we can make it POssible,” he concluded.
