Umuahia, Abia State – In a bid to empower women and combat poverty, former presidential candidate Peter Obi has donated N10 million to the Women Fellowship Pastoral Project in Umuahia, Abia State. The initiative, led by Methodist women, focuses on providing skills acquisition and vocational training to women as a means of economic empowerment.
Obi visited the project on Friday, where he commended the efforts of the founders and participants in the initiative. He emphasized the importance of empowering women, noting that they constitute approximately 50% of the population, and their education and skill development can significantly reduce poverty across the country.
Empowering Women for Economic Growth
“Educating and training our women in various skills and trades will not only help them support their families economically, but it will also contribute to the broader reduction of poverty in Nigeria,” Obi said during his visit.
