
In a heartfelt visit to Kaduna, former presidential candidate Peter Obi extended his condolences to former Governor Ahmed Makarfi and his family following the tragic death of their son, Faisal Makarfi. Accompanied by Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi expressed his sorrow over the loss, praying for divine comfort for the Makarfi family during this difficult time. He called for fortitude to endure such an irreplaceable loss, highlighting the importance of community support in times of grief and the condolence visit, Obi took the opportunity to assess the progress at an almajiri school he has been supporting in the state. During his initial visit earlier this year, he observed the dire conditions at the school, including dilapidated infrastructure and a lack of basic facilities such as functional toilets and a reliable water supply. In response, he made a financial contribution to help improve these critical amenities and was pleased to see significant improvements in the school’s infrastructure, which now includes a decent toilet system and two functional boreholes, ensuring the students have better access to sanitation and water. Impressed by these advancements, he made an additional donation of N5 million to further support the school’s initiatives. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the children receive a quality education, which he considers vital for their future opportunities .
