Dele Farotimi, a human rights advocate and lawyer, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police following petitions alleging defamation, cyberbullying, and exposing sensitive details during public appearances, including a YouTube press conference. The petitions were reportedly filed by prominent figures, including Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), linked to claims made in Farotimi’s book about Nigeria’s justice system.
Farotimi alleges that these legal actions are a form of harassment and witch-hunting due to his critical stance on influential individuals. He also accused the Ekiti Police Command of using unconventional tactics, such as attempting to lure him through associates and staff, despite his compliance with police invitations. Farotimi has expressed concerns about his safety and called for proper legal processes to address the allegations.
