Breaking News: Police Rescue Mrs. Odumosu, Neutralize Kidnappers in Ogun State Raid
In a decisive operation showcasing precision and bravery, operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully rescued Mrs. Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant-Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, from the clutches of kidnappers. The victim was abducted on January 16, 2025, at about 9:45 PM outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State.
The four masked gunmen responsible had forcibly taken her from her Lexus SUV, demanding a ransom of N10 million. However, the Ogun State anti-kidnapping unit, with support from the Force Headquarters’ technical intelligence platform, launched an aggressive search operation. Surveillance of the creeks surrounding Arepo provided key information, leading to a raid in the swampy terrain of Ikorodu on January 23, 2025, at approximately 6:45 AM.
During the raid, the kidnappers opened fire, sparking a fierce gunfight. Two assailants were neutralized, while four others managed to escape. Mrs. Odumosu was found unharmed within the creeks and has been reunited with her family after a precautionary medical evaluation.
Police recovered four AK-47 rifles, three locally-made single-barrel rifles, assorted ammunition, and the N10 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers. The operation not only ensured her safety but disrupted the group’s plans for further attacks.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their gallantry. “This operation reflects the dedication and resilience of the Nigeria Police Force in combatting kidnapping and other violent crimes,” said Force PRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement.
The police continue to hunt the fleeing suspects, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians.
