Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force has obtained a remand order from the Chief Magistrate Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, authorizing the detention of Reno Omokri, a social media influencer and former special assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media.
The order, issued by Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Iyanna, also targets former Dunamis Church pastor Abraham Daniel, alongside Enenche Idoga Alexander and Oboyinlo Enenche Peter. The remand warrant was granted following an ex-parte motion filed by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on January 13, 2025. The court has directed the respondents to be produced on January 30, 2025.
The case centers on allegations of defamation against Pastor Paul Enenche, founder of Dunamis International Gospel Centre. This follows a series of accusations made by former Pastor Abraham Daniel, who alleged that Pastor Enenche breached a prior agreement and facilitated his imprisonment after his resignation from the church.
Daniel previously claimed he faced threats and eventual detention on charges he described as orchestrated by Pastor Enenche. Reno Omokri is accused of amplifying these claims in his public statements, contributing to the current legal proceedings.
Omokri has been involved in other public disputes with the Enenche family, including a controversial remark in November 2024, where he referred to Pastor Becky Enenche as a “Yahoo girl on the altar,” drawing criticism from groups like the Nigeria Youths Frontiers and Peace Advocates (NYFPA).
The police are intensifying efforts to locate and detain Omokri, Daniel, and the two Enenche brothers pending their appearance in court. The case has drawn significant public interest, particularly within religious and legal circles, as the allegations continue to unfold.
Further updates on the investigation and court proceedings are expected in the coming weeks.
