The Presidency has criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s leadership style, stating that it should not be regarded as an ideal model for governance. Presidential spokespersons noted that Obasanjo’s tenure was characterized by controversial policies and a lack of inclusivity, which undermined long-term national progress.
They argued that some of Obasanjo’s decisions, including his attempts to extend his tenure, were self-serving and left a mixed legacy. The Presidency emphasized the need to prioritize leaders who demonstrate consistency, integrity, and adherence to democratic principles.
While acknowledging Obasanjo’s contributions, the Presidency stressed that future leadership should focus on collaborative and transparent governance. This, they said, would better serve Nigeria’s socio-economic development goals.
