President Bola Tinubu has appointed Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS). This appointment is effective immediately and will continue pending the return of Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who is reportedly receiving medical treatment abroad. Prior to this role, Major General Oluyede served as the Commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps in Kaduna, among other leadership roles in the military.
This change comes as the Nigerian Army confirmed that Lagbaja’s absence is due to health reasons, countering any rumors of his resignation.
