President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Nigeria after attending the G20 Leaders’ Summit held in Brazil from November 18-19, 2024. During the summit, themed “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” Tinubu participated in discussions on sustainable development, global governance reforms, and climate change.
He engaged in bilateral talks, including a meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF, who praised Nigeria’s economic reforms. A notable outcome of his visit was the signing of a $2.5 billion Letter of Intent with Brazilian agribusiness giant JBS S.A. to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Tinubu’s participation reflects Nigeria’s effort to address domestic challenges, including poverty and food insecurity, while fostering international partnerships. His return underscores Nigeria’s increased involvement in global economic and environmental discussions.
