Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazário has voiced his opinion on the 2024 Ballon d’Or, stating that his compatriot Vinícius Jr deserved the prestigious award over Manchester City midfielder Rodri. While acknowledging Rodri’s talents, Ronaldo made it clear where his support lies.
Speaking about the outcome, Ronaldo said:
“I’ve nothing against Rodri… but Vinícius Jr deserved to be the Ballon d’Or 2024.”
He added emphatically:
“Vini was the one who had to win.”
Vinícius Jr had an outstanding year, playing a pivotal role for both Real Madrid and Brazil, showcasing his skill, consistency, and game-changing performances. However, Rodri’s contributions to Manchester City’s treble-winning campaign, including scoring the decisive goal in the Champions League final, earned him the award.
