A policeman identified as Inspector Saka Ganiyu was reportedly stabbed to death by soldiers attached to the Ojo Cantonment Barracks
The attack occurred after a soldier driving an unregistered T4 Volkswagen bus against traffic was stopped by police officers at the Volks Bus Stop, along the Ojo-Iyana Iba Road.
According to PUNCH Online, the soldier, who was not in uniform, called for reinforcements after an altercation with the officers.
However, in response, soldiers from the nearby Ojo Cantonment stormed the scene and attacked the policemen, and injured Inspector Ganiyu.
Despite being rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for emergency care, the officer succumbed to his injuries. His body has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for an autopsy. Meanwhile, the Commander of the 9 Brigade at Ikeja Cantonment has reportedly taken the responsible soldier into custody.
