
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has accepted the resignation of Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun amid a political crisis over a short-lived martial law declaration that has sparked mass protests and an impeachment motion. Yoon is accused of overstepping constitutional boundaries, leading to allegations of an attempted coup. Opposition parties have filed an impeachment motion against both Yoon and Kim, with parliament set to vote on December 7, 2024. If passed, Yoon will be suspended pending a Constitutional Court ruling.
