Senator Kingibe’s statement emphasizes the importance of diplomatic partnerships for regional cohesion and effective policymaking. Such collaborations among nations or regions help tackle common challenges, generate actionable insights, and encourage unity. She explained through her X formerly Twitter account;
Yesterday, I took part in a panel session at the 2024 Anglophone West Africa Social Norms & Agency Learning Collaborative Summit, hosted at the Abuja Continental Hotel. I shared personal experiences, speaking about the stereotypes I encountered throughout my career and political journey, as well as the resilience it took to overcome them and achieve my goals while making a meaningful impact. The summit gathered thought leaders, policymakers, and experts to address some of the most pressing social issues impacting our region.
This gathering offered an invaluable space to examine how social norms shape individual agency and to discuss pathways for fostering positive, lasting change within our communities. By openly exchanging insights and experiences, we are creating a collective knowledge base that empowers more people—especially women and youth—to push beyond restrictive societal expectations and seize new opportunities.
Such collaborations are crucial for building regional cohesion, sparking actionable policy insights, and ultimately creating a more inclusive and equitable West Africa.
