This group argues that the Rivers State Executive failed to comply with a court order to resubmit the 2024 budget to the Assembly.
A previous ruling had invalidated the budget’s approval, which had been conducted by a different legislative faction, citing irregularities related to a factional split within the Assembly.
This dispute has complex political dimensions, including alleged alliances and prior rulings that were escalated to the Supreme Court. While the CBN and other defendants requested the court to dismiss the case, the judge ruled that the hearings would continue, reserving judgment for a later date.
