The Israeli military recently confirmed it conducted targeted airstrikes on Iranian military sites, following a series of attacks attributed to Iran and its regional allies. Israel has described these as “precise strikes” aimed at Iranian missile and drone facilities, primarily targeting sites involved in previous ballistic missile attacks on Israel earlier this month.
These actions mark a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the two nations, amid broader regional conflicts involving Hezbollah in Lebanon and various militant groups in Gaza.
This escalation has led to heightened concerns in Tehran, with Iranian air defenses reportedly engaging Israeli aircraft over the capital. While Iranian state media acknowledged the explosions, it attempted to downplay the situation, stating that only minor defenses were activated.
The Israeli strikes occurred just as the U.S. Secretary of State was concluding a tour in the Middle East, with American officials stressing that the U.S. was not involved in the operation but had been notified in advance.
