The Lagos State Government has urged youths in the state to consider joining the military. This appeal was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, during a recent meeting with the Police Community Relations Committee in Ikeja. She emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and that the military provides an opportunity to serve the nation.
Salu-Hundeyin expressed concern over the low number of Lagos youths enrolling in the military, particularly during the last recruitment, and highlighted that each state has 150 slots to fill. She pointed out that the state has been “short-changed” due to a lack of participation, urging parents and youths to embrace these opportunities to avoid disadvantaging the state.
The government also reassured the public that joining the military is not a death sentence but rather a noble profession, with efforts underway to address recruitment challenges.
