President Bola Tinubu has initiated several measures aimed at cutting the cost of governance in Nigeria. One significant step is the implementation of the Oronsaye Report, which involves merging and scrapping various government agencies to eliminate redundancy and streamline operations.
This long-awaited move is expected to enhance efficiency in public administration. In addition, Tinubu has introduced other cost-cutting directives, including reducing the number of vehicles in ministers’ convoys to a maximum of three and slashing travel estacodes (allowances) by 60% for government officials. These actions are part of a broader effort to ensure fiscal responsibility and reduce government expenditure. The president has emphasized that these measures will apply to all government offices, including the presidency, vice-presidency, and offices of the First and Second Ladies, as a demonstration of his commitment to prudent management of public resources.
