Abuja, Nigeria – In a gesture of goodwill and diplomatic ties, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria sent a symbolic floral basket to North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, to mark the New Year 2025.
The floral arrangement, adorned with a ribbon bearing the inscription, “I sincerely wish the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un good health,” was delivered on December 30, 2024, by the charge d’affaires ad interim of the Nigerian embassy in Pyongyang. A representative from North Korea received the gesture on behalf of Kim Jong Un.
On the same day, Kim Jong Un received congratulatory letters from the Nicaraguan ambassador to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Nigerian charge d’affaires, further emphasizing the tradition of extending New Year greetings among nations.
This act symbolizes Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement with North Korea and reflects President Tinubu’s approach to fostering international goodwill and relations.
Observers note that such exchanges, while symbolic, play a role in maintaining diplomatic ties and encouraging peaceful coexistence among nations.
