The Lagos State Attorney General, Lawal Pedro (SAN), has confirmed that the toxicology report of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has been received. The report, which was conducted in the United States due to the destruction of the Lagos DNA and Forensic Centre during the 2020 #EndSARS protests, marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the artist’s sudden death.
During a press conference in Lagos, Pedro acknowledged delays in the investigation, attributing them to the thorough forensic and toxicological processes required to ensure that the case is strong enough for prosecution. The US-based forensic testing has now been submitted to the Lagos State pathologist and the coroner magistrate, signaling a possible conclusion to the investigation in the near future.
Pedro emphasized the importance of ensuring that the evidence gathered is comprehensive and strong enough to lead to convictions, if necessary. This development comes as Mohbad’s family continues to push for justice and clarity on the circumstances surrounding the singer’s untimely death, which shocked many of his fans across the globe.
