Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor of Osun State, has been suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the party’s Osun State chapter. The suspension follows allegations of anti-party activities, including promoting factionalism within the APC, forming splinter groups, publicly criticizing party leaders, and associating with opposition parties. This action was initiated by the Ilesa East APC executive committee and formalized by the Osun APC’s State Executive Committee, citing a breach of the party’s constitution.
Aregbesola’s suspension, effective immediately, is pending a formal investigation by a disciplinary committee, which will give him the opportunity to respond within 48 hours. The committee’s findings are expected within two weeks, and Aregbesola’s camp has yet to respond publicly to the charges.
