
The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has presented the state’s 2025 budget proposal to the Edo State House of Assembly. The budget, titled “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” is set at N605 billion, reflecting a 25% increase from the 2024 budget.
Key highlights include:
Recurrent expenditure: N223 billion (37% of the total).
Capital projects: N381 billion (63% of the total), with a focus on infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Road infrastructure: N162 billion allocated to improve connectivity and modernize Edo’s transport network.
Education: N48 billion to revitalize schools, including a monthly subvention of N500 million for Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
Healthcare: N63.9 billion allocated, including N1.8 billion for health insurance to improve accessibility.
Agriculture: N4.5 billion for mechanization and ensuring farmland safety.
Security: New patrol vehicles and lifting of the vigilante ban to enhance safety.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the budget aligns with his administration’s five-point agenda and aims to ensure transparency and accountability.
